Shaun was never much good at coming up with titles, so it was always a sort of group effort. I had always been obsessed with titles, so I just kinda went with my feelings, which were very negative at the time. Avoiding the light was also something I had personally been doing since I am so ginger it hurts and it doesn't take long for me to get a sunburn, so the title felt fitting to me.
It was really hard to record this tight because we recorded parts separately and didn't yet know how to edit and line things up in a DAW. We were still using Cool Edit Pro on really shitty computers and had no idea what we were doing. When you can't see your drummer, who hits randomly and struggles with his meter, things get a little loose. We just accepted this as it being what it is.
